Book a small country cottage near woodland and good walks or in one of Britains' many national parks to stay in beautiful countryside. Dine out at country pubs, sample home-cooked lunches at tea shops. A rural break in Britain can be a magical thing when you have eyes only for each other. Sink into a soft bed at night and enjoy that other world beneath the duvet.

Isle of Wight

The Isle of Wight in the English Channel is just a very short ferry ride from Portsmouth or Southampton. Its rural scenery is difficult to beat anywhere else in England. Because it is relatively small with an excellent bus network, you don't even need to drive.

Once on the island, ensconced in your own country cottage for 2, explore the coast and beaches, the countryside, go horse riding on the sands or search for fossilised dinosaur remains.

The island has chalky white cliffs in places, similar to Dover. The famous Needles landmark is a series of eroded white cliffs. The Needles Park there offers a complete day of activities including a chair lift down to the sea.

There is such a lot of high quality self-catering cottage accommodation in the Isle of Wight to choose from. Go in the spring, summer or autumn to see the countryside at its best.

Yorkshire Dales

The sweeping green valleys surrounded by gentle rolling hills creates the most spectacular views in the Yorkshire Dales. This national park is one of the best spots in England for a romantic cottage break with a good view.

Walks extend in every direction. The moors are resplendent at the height of summer with glowing pink heather. Have a picnic in the heather and watch the sun set over the dales.

There are so many opportunities for love to blossom in such an area. Fans of the Brontes could visit Haworth in Bronte country in Yorkshire and explore romantic literature.

Small cobbled villages such Grassington are charm itself.

We hope that these suggestions may encourage another love to grow - we're all matchmakers at heart.
